Graveside services will be held in Springhill Freewill Cemetery on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM. Due to Covid-19, face coverings are encouraged and please practice social distancing. Mr. Preston was born in Americus, GA, on December 3, 1964, to Richard Russell Preston, Sr. and Catherine Nasworthy Preston. As a 1983 graduate of Tri-County High School, Richard was mostly known for his “cool” cars. His Trans Am is one of the most memorable. Well liked by his classmates, he was also voted senior superlative, “Best Dressed.” Richard loved his logging business that he co- founded with his brother Phil in 1989. Currently, he ran the day to day operations with his son, Adam. Logging was his “true love.” His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and listening to old Southern Rock while grilling out by the pool. Lynyrd Skynyrd was his favorite band. Being with family and friends was his biggest joy. He had a big heart and would always help others. He was definitely the “life of the party!” He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Adam Preston of Buena Vista, GA; his daughter, Riley Preston of Plains, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Tonya Preston; his nieces Faith Preston and Carrie Cooper both of Buena Vista, GA and Shelly Harrod of Plains, GA, his nephew, Lance Harrod of Plains; and by his grand-dog, Gator. Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
