Billy Ray Ratliff, 52, of Box Springs, GA, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 
his residence.

Funeral Services were held at Lakeview Full Gospel Church on Sunday, April 26, 
2009, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Luke Forsyth officiating. The family received 
friends at the church prior to the service from 2-3 p.m.  Burial immediately 
followed in Brown Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were William 
Ratliff, Bo Ratliff, Glen Hogland, Wayne Davis, James Brooks, Tommy Raines, 
Alford Cannington, and Chris Graydon.

Mr. Ratliff was born July 6, 1956, in Chattahoochee County to George 
William “Bill” and Leona Swearingen Ratliff. He was in the Army and served 
during the Vietnam War. Coming from Harris County, Georgia, he had lived in 
Box Springs since 1992.  He loved to fish and was an avid motorcyclist. He was 
Baptist by faith. A loving man, he was a father figure to many children over 
the years.

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Leona Ratliff of Midland, GA; by his 
wife, Laura Ratliff, by a son, William “Billy” Ray Ratliff, both of Box 
Springs, GA; by a daughter, Amanda Leigh Cofer (Craig) of Oklahoma City, OK; 
by a brother, Jimmy “Bo” Ratliff (Sheila) of Albany, GA; by two sisters, 
Jeannie Hogland (Glen) of Hephzibah, GA, and Pamela Davis (Wayne) of Columbus, 
GA; and by four grandchildren, Maddison Davis, Hannah Cofer, Harmony Cofer, 
and Jonathan Davis. 

Memorial donations can be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, 
Georgia, 31909. Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista was in charge of 
arrangements.
