Box 382 Buena Vista, GA 31803 Phone (229)649-2478 Fax (229)649-2446 Billy George Raybon, 59, of Americus, formerly of Buena Vista, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Buena Vista Cemetery with Reverend Chris Hess officiating. Music was provided by Kenny Phillips. Serving as active pallbearers were Michael Stewart, Jamey Raybon, Chris Shirah, Ernest Lundy, Matt Greene, Kenny Phillips, Steve Ibach, and David Brock. Honorary pallbearers were the Burgin Nephews. The family received friends at Tante Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 to 7. Mr. Raybon was born October 24, 1949, in Americus, Georgia, to James Rudolph and Janie Irene Pounds Raybon. Baptist by faith, he was a member of and previously had been music director of First Baptist Church in Buena Vista. He had also been a music director at First Baptist in Butler, Ideal and Ellaville. He had been living in Americus for the past three years but had spent 35 years living in Buena Vista. He was self employed as a music teacher and director. He was a mason and a member of Washington Lodge #359 in Ellaville, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Burgin Raybon. Survivors include a son, Darold Raybon, of Smiths Station, AL; his twin brother Willie Raybon and brother Larry Raybon, both of Ellaville, and brother Wayne Raybon of Sierra Vista, AZ; and by a sister, Janey Nash of Americus. Five grandchildren, Samantha Raybon, Alana Osborn, Taylor Osborn, Michael Merola, and Waylon Mauko also survive. Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of arrangements.
