Rigdon, Jr. Profile June 21, 1961 — April 5, 2023 Sam T. Rigdon Jr., Sammy, Sam Bo, Daddy, Uncle Bobo, he carried many names and did each and every one of them justice. Especially Daddy. It is with great sorrow we announce Sammy’s untimely passing, in his home, on Wednesday April 5th 2023. His family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Directly after, a sunset service will be delivered by Brother David Hibberts of Buena Vista United Methodist Church. All are welcome, come as you are. Sammy was born June 21, 1961, in Columbus, Georgia to Mr. Sam T. Rigdon Sr. and Mrs. Carol Barfield Rigdon. In his younger years Sammy attended church with his family. As the oldest of four children he was always playing outside with his brother and sisters. Growing up he played sports, mainly football and baseball at Tri-County High School, where he attended. As a teenager Sammy was always working hard and playing hard. When he was old enough he began logging with his Daddy, Sam, at Mead. Much like his Daddy he loved being in the woods whether it was hunting, fishing, or just enjoying nature. However, if any of you really knew Sammy you knew how much he loved music. No matter if it was Tom Petty or Eminem he was listening to, he felt every note that was played. Before long Sammy found himself a family man and his whole existence was focused on his “Britt Britt”. There is no love quite like the love Sammy had for his daughter. He would have moved Heaven and Earth for Brittney from the day she was born. As it does over time, life brings with it changes. In his last years of life Sammy was thriving in his home of Augusta, Georgia. He was employed at Kimberly Clark and had made many friends there. Sammy had recently undergone cancer treatment and had just found out he was cancer free. Sammy is survived by his beloved daughter Brittney Rigdon DeNova, and his favorite son-in-law Joey DeNova, both of Flowery Branch, GA; his father and mother, Sam T. Rigdon Sr. and Carol Barfield Rigdon of Buena Vista, GA; his siblings, Linda & Matt Gilligan of Roswell, GA, John & Minda Rigdon of Buena Vista, GA, and Sue Ann & Brian Mitchell of Athens, GA. He is also survived by many well loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew, along with countless special friends he made along the way. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Sammy Rigdon. Don't go looking For the reasons Don't go asking Jesus why?
