July 18 2012 Justine Hall Rogers October 6, 1922 - July 17, 2012 Biography Mary Justine Hall Rogers, 89, died at Magnolia Manor of Marion County on July 17, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Union United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Harris officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 5-8 PM. Mrs. Rogers was born in Swainsboro, GA, on October 6, 1922, to Jonah Rayford and Susan Claude Dozier Hall. She was the youngest of 8 children, and was the last remaining sibling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady F. Rogers, in 1990. She was a homemaker, and was later employed for 26 years as a caseworker with the Department of Family and Children Services in Marion County, and Crisp County. She lived most of her life in Buena Vista, but spent several years on Lake Blackshear in Crisp County, returning home to Marion county after the death of her husband. Justine’s “servant heart” was always evident as she served in all activities of Union United Methodist Church throughout her adult life. After retiring, she also served as a “Pink Lady” with the Sumter Regional Hospital Auxiliary when she was in her 80’s, working as a receptionist one day a week in the Oncology Department, which meant so much to her as a cancer survivor. She also participated in the local Relay for Life Cancer Walks every year, raising money for cancer research. While in her 70’s and 80’s, she volunteered at the Buena Vista-Marion County Senior Center, preparing lunch meals for the Center and the Meal on Wheels program, and she was a car transporter for Moon-Rogers Motor Company much of this time. She was a great fisherman, an avid gardener, and a hospitable Godly lady who loved her family and her extended church family. Survivors include one son, Hall Rogers, and his wife, Debbie, of Adairsville, GA; two daughters, Gradine Boyett, and Seleta Rogers, of Buena Vista, GA; 4 grandchildren, Chris Rogers and his wife, Susan, of Buena Vista, GA; Cary Rogers and his wife, Tammy, of Graham, AL; April Boyett of Yonkers, NY, and Kristin Stover of Adairsville, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Turner Rogers of Graham, AL, and Hope Rogers, of Buena Vista, GA. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Boyett, of Wilmington, NC, earlier this year. . Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these arrangements.
