Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends in the church on Saturday beginning at 12:30 until service time. Mr. Rumph was born in Mauk, GA, on June 27, 1939, to James Edwin and Thelma Pike Rumph. He loved his church and had attended Oakland Baptist Church since marrying Mrs. Verna 58 years ago. Family was very important in his life and he loved spending time with them especially on holidays when there were big meals involved. He was a devoted grandfather who never missed an event for his grandchildren. Mr. Rumph loved to mechanic on cars and retired from U-Haul. Known for being honest and loyal, he was a man of character and principle. He firmly believed you had to stand for something or you’d fall for anything. Mr. Rumph was an excellent husband and father and could often be found helping his wife Verna in the garden. He was a good and humble man and had served in the National Guard for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Verna Fuller Rumph of Box Springs, GA; by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Christi Rumph of Box Springs, GA, and Steven and Niki Rumph of Silverdale, WA; by five grandchildren, Tiffany and Marc Warner, Timothy and Brittney Rumph, Shauna and Chris Waldon, Kendel Rumph and Logan Rumph; and by four great-grandchildren, Dakota Warner, Kaydance Warner, Marc Warner, Jr., and Dawson Rumph. Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
