Ruth (Miller) Rush
June 2, 1931 ~ April 19, 2021 (age 89)

Ms. Ruth Miller Rush, 89, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Monday, April 19, 
2021, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. A graveside memorial 
service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Brantley United 
Methodist Church with Rev. Joy Wilson officiating.
 
Ms. Rush was born June 2, 1931, in Marion County, GA, to the late Johnny and 
Lilly Curlee Miller. Methodist by faith, she attended services at Magnolia 
Manor in Buena Vista. During her earlier years, Ms. Rush was a dedicated 
servant at Brantley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and 
helped with many church related activities. Ms. Rush loved her family and 
friends. She cherished the time spent on the family farm. Ms. Rush was a 
homemaker, as well as a strong, hardworking farmHER. She enjoyed being out in 
nature, caring for the cows and chickens. Her death will leave a void in the 
hearts of everyone that truly knew her. Later in life, she was a manager of 
Magnolia Terrace apartments in Buena Vista. She enjoyed keeping the ground 
beautiful, planning activities for the residents, and caring for the needs of 
those that lived there. She was recognized as an outstanding manager by the 
company. Ms. Rush was preceded in death by her husband, James Rush, a son, 
John Rush, two sisters and a brother.
 
Ms. Rush is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Anne and Bland Brooks of 
Rochelle, GA; Toni Rush of Buena Vista, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and 
Connie Rush of Buena Vista, GA; granddaughters, Lacey Brooks McWhorter of 
Rochelle, GA, Shanda Ruth Gunnels (Lewis) of Preston, GA, Jake Brooks (Jill) 
of Rochelle, GA; Ashley Rush Chapman (B. J.) of Cataula, GA, and Molly Rush 
Foy (Andrew) of Buena Vista, GA; by brothers Thomas Miller (Linda) and B. S. 
Miller (Gayle) of Buena Vista, GA, and Ronnie Moore (Betty) of Woodstock, GA; 
a sister, Mary Miller Mitchell of Zephyrhills, FL; a sister-in-law, Sherry 
Rush Griner of Americus, GA; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces 
and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Brantley United Methodist Church.

been entrusted with these arrangements.
