John R. Sikes, age 73, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his residence in 
Cusseta.

Funeral Services were held at 1:00PM on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Cusseta 
United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Smith officiating. The family 
received friends at Tante Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8PM. Serving 
as pallbearers were Tracy Sikes, Robin Sikes, Robert Smith, Larry Jones, Edgar 
Burgamy, Jr. and Anthony Rose.

Mr. Sikes was born April 18, 1937, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to Jack and 
Arizona Philpott Sikes. Methodist by faith, he was employed as a plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sikes of Cusseta; by three sons, Tracy Jon 
& Susan Sikes of Cusseta, Robin Scott Sikes and his fiance’ Donna Winick of 
Connecticut, and Donald Dean & Andrea Sikes of Atlanta; by two daughters, 
Teresa L. & Jessie Smith of Cusseta and Cheryl Sikes of Columbus; and by three 
sisters and brothers-in-law, Daisy and James Compton, Edith and David Spears, 
and Bonnie and Luther Lyle, all of Salem, Oregon. Eight grandchildren, Robert 
Smith, Shawn Sikes, Tanya Smith, Nicole Sikes, Maelynn Aikens, Eric Welch, 
Madilyn Nicole Cooper, and Alex Sikes and four great-grandchildren, Hannah 
Smith, Ryan Smith, Arizona Smith, and Elyssa Cooper also survive.

Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista was in charge of arrangements.
