Obituary
Mrs. Bettye Jane Simmers, 75, of Cusseta, GA, passed away on Friday, August 27, 
2021, in Phenix City, AL. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on 
Monday, August 30, 2021, at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Batten 
officiating. Friends may visit with Mrs. Simmers on Sunday, August 29, 2021, 
from 12:00-4:00PM.

Mrs. Simmers was born in Kosciusko, MS, on July 12, 1946, to Carlos L. and Mary 
Jane Bailey and was raised by Emma Ellard.  She was a member of River City 
Pentecostal Church in Columbus, GA. Mrs. Simmers retired from teaching 
elementary and middle school special needs children in the Chattahoochee County 
School System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two 
husbands, Robert and Wendell, and two daughters, Rebecca Smith and Tammye 
Simmers.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Myryah White (Alphonse), David Smith, and 
Ryan Smith; by four grandchildren, Jackson, Skye, Mason, and Rylee; and by four 
sisters, Sheila, Renee, Carlene, and Leeann.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been 
entrusted with these arrangements.
