Mrs. Sims was born in Clayton, GA, on June 20, 1948, to James W. and Betty Jean Icard Craig. Before her retirement, she worked in shipping and receiving with the Department of Juvenile Justice. Baptist by faith, she was an integral member of Tazewell Baptist Church. Mrs. Sims was a pillar and lifelong member of the Tazewell community. Her loss will be felt in the community for a long time. Mrs. Sims helped with all of the Tazewell community events. From BBQ sales for the Fire Department and Cemetery to fundraisers for the old school house, Pam was always involved. She loved to spoil children and cut grass and could often be found cutting the grass in her neighbor’s yards whether they asked her to or not. She took care of the Tazewell cemetery and kept the grass cut there as well. She was surrounded by family during the last week and she made sure they knew to go make sure the cemetery was ready for her arrival. She was a survivor. Over the years, she had survived several life threatening illnesses including a kidney transplant in 2009. Mrs. Sims had a business mind that would match any Wall Street executive. She loved her family and helped take care of them. She would do anything for her family. Mrs. Sims enjoyed fishing, cooking, and especially talking on the phone. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Sims is survived by her husband of 29 years, Larry Sims of Tazewell, GA; by three step-children, Nikki and Blake Turner, Andy Sims and John Sims, all of Dadeville, AL; by a brother, Wayne and Cheryl Ray of Tazewell, GA; by four sisters, Uvalyne and Ray Smith of Macon, GA, Rosalind Whaley of Tazewell, GA, Charlene Turner of Ideal, GA, and Carol Streeter of Tazewell, GA; her nieces and nephews, Angie and Daryl Cohen, Barbara and Matt Gilbert, Fawn and Herb McMillan, Terry Whaley, Stacie Taylor, Joey and Mary Margaret Turner, Carrie and Robbie Jordan, Craig Davis, and Devin Ray; numerous great nieces and nephews also survive.
