 Died: Mon Feb 18, 2013

Ms. Ruby Mae Riles Smith, 84, of Cusseta, GA, died Monday, February, 18, 2013, 
at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 
First Baptist Church of Cusseta with Reverend Mark Hudson and Tommy Parsons 
officiating. Burial will follow the service at Harmony Cemetery.  Serving as 
active pallbearers will be Ronnie Gill, Jr., Keith Gourd, David Smith, Jr., 
Bill Taylor, III, Jesse Abercrombie, Wayne Corbett, Sr., Matt Hughes, and Hank 
Field. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, 
February 19, 2013, from 6-8 pm.
 
 
 
Ms. Smith was born March 11, 1928, in Phenix City, AL, the daughter of Burrell 
Joseph Riles, Jr. and Jettie Mae Katherine Kent Riles. Mrs. Smith was preceded 
in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, George Raymond Smith and 
one brother, Earl Joseph Riles, Jr.  She was a librarian and housewife.  She 
was a member of First Baptist Church of Cusseta where she served as church 
secretary, a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the WMU. 
 
Survivors include one son, David G Smith(Jeanette) of Cusseta, three 
daughters, Nadine S. McGlaun (Vince), Patti S. Gourd (Danny), and Dolly S. 
Taylor (Bill), all of Cusseta, one sister, Evelyn Blasingame of Americus, GA, 
eight grandchildren, Tammie Hughes (Matt), Jeanie Field (Hank), Ronnie Gill, 
Jr., Keith Gourd, Jana Corbett (Wayne), David Smith, Jr. (Kacie), Carrie 
Abercrombie (Jesse), and Bill Taylor, III (Amber), thirteen great 
grandchildren, Kaitlynn Long, Candice Hughes, Olivia Gill, Tucker Gill, Wayne 
Corbett, Jr., Carson Corbett, Samantha Gourd, Joshua Abercrombie, Jacob 
Abercrombie, Annika Abercrombie, Kaylin Smith, Isabella Smith, Bill Taylor, IV.
 
Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these 
arrangements.
