Charles Harold Smith, Sr., age 80, of Box Springs, Georgia, formerly of 
Atlanta, Georgia died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at VistaCare Center at 
Franciscan Woods in Columbus, Georgia.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, November 3, 
2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Church of God in Box Springs with Reverend A.R. 
Curlee officiating and special music will be provided by Tonya Preston, 
according to Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista. 

Mr. Smith was born February 6, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of the late 
Belvie and Mattie Giles Smith.  He was preceded in death by his son Michael 
Smith, his brother J.L. Smith and his sister Margaret Walker.  He served 
honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.  Moving from Atlanta, 
he had been a resident of Box Springs since 1997.  He was Protestant by 
faith.  Besides being an auto mechanic, he was an outdoorsman and loved 
hunting and fishing.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Betty McClellan; two sons Charles Harold 
Smith, Jr. and wife Brenda of Acworth, Georgia and Greg Smith of Douglasville, 
Georgia; two daughters Sheila York of Douglasville and Tammy Jett and husband 
Michael of Carrollton, Georgia; a daughter-in-law Rhonda Smith of Austell, 
Georgia; two stepsons Michael McClellan and wife Joanie and Mark McClellan and 
wife Anita, all of Box Springs; a stepdaughter Gail Simmons and husband Ricky 
of Box Springs; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren 
and 6 great step-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the memory of 
Mr. Smith to Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, 
Georgia 31904.
