Mrs. Mary Virginia Mourfield Smith, 86, of Box Springs, GA passed away on 
December 7, 2020. Graveside services will be held in Kennesaw Memorial Park 
Cemetery, 1306 Whitlock Ave. NW, Marietta, GA 30064 on Thursday, December 10, 
2020 at 3:00 PM. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in 
Buena Vista on Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 PM. Due to Covid-19, face 
coverings are encouraged and please practice social distancing.

Mrs. Smith was born August 26, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late William M. 
Mourfield and Maudelle Humphries Mourfield. She was an honor graduate of 
Marietta High School. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife and mother and went above 
and beyond for everyone she knew. She was the sweetest soul and everyone loved 
her. Mrs. Smith loved to travel, and went many places around the world with her 
best friend and love of her life, Jere. In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by a brother, Bill Mourfield and two sisters, Rozelle Smith 
and Lynda Campbell.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Jere Smith of Box Springs, GA; two 
daughters, Sheri Smith and Cindy Dick, both of Box Springs, GA; a 
granddaughter, Tiffany Dick and a great-grandson, Maverick Stuffel; and several 
nieces and nephews.
