SMITH.--Sister Betty Smith, wife of Bro. J. T. Smith, died at her home in 
Marion county, Ga., June 16th, 1889, aged 43 years and 7 months.  She professed 
hope in Christ and was by experience of grace and baptism added to the church 
at Mt. Carmel, Marion county, Ga., in her 14th year, from which time she lived 
a consistent Christian life, and in her death the church to which she belonged 
sustained a great loss, but our loss is her eternal gain.  She was faithful in 
the discharge of all her Christian duties.  She has filled her mission on earth 
and has gone to enter the rest that await the people of God.  She leaves a 
husband and seven children, with many other kindred and friends to mourn her 
loss.  May the Lord bless them, and in the dispensation of his Spirit comfort 
them in his bereavement.  As a wife, she was faithful, kind and sympathetic; 
she seemed never to tire in administering to the wants of her family; as a 
mother, she was hardly to be excelled.  Her kind instructions and advisory 
counsel will be greatly missed by her family.  Her funeral services were 
conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. Walters.  Text, Hebrews 4:9.  After which her 
remains were deposited in Mt. Carmel cemetery, there to rest until the 
resurrection morn.
