Tante Funeral Home  December  2007
Buena Vista, GA- Robert Short Stevens, 85, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, in 
Buena Vista.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Buena 
Vista United Methodist Church with Reverend Jimmy Ford officiating. Interment 
followed in the Buena Vista Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were 
Walter Weyman Brooks, Walter Weyman Brooks, Jr., Bradley Steven Brooks, Joe 
Slade Johnson, Jr., Joe Slade Johnson III, Steven Murrah Johnson, Robert 
Charles Stevens, Ernest Chappell Stevens, and McLowery Elrod. Honorary 
pallbearers will be the men of Buena Vista United Methodist Church. The family 
received friends at Tante Funeral Home Saturday, December 8, 2007 from 2 to 4 
p.m. 

Mr. Stevens was born May 5, 1922, the only child of Robert Putnam and Esther 
Short Stevens. He was a lifelong resident of Marion County and was a farmer by 
trade. He was Methodist by faith and was a devoted member of Buena Vista 
United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during World War II. His 
parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include five cousins and their families, Josephine Elrod & Weyman 
Brooks of Columbus, Georgia, McLowery & Susan Elrod of Americus, Georgia, 
Alice Murrah & Joe S. Johnson of Talbotton, Georgia, Ernest Chappell Stevens 
of Americus, Georgia, and Robert Charles & Nancy Stevens of LaGrange, Georgia. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Buena Vista UMC, 
P.O. Box 449, Buena Vista, Georgia, 31803 or to the Buena Vista Cemetery, c/o 
Herbert Tante, 137 Harold Harris Road, Buena Vista, Georgia, 31803.  Tante 
Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia was in charge of arrangements.
