Tullis Dead After a long and lingering illness Mr. N.H. Tullis departed this life last Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock at his home near Draneville. He was stricken with a stroke of paralysis about two years ago from which he never recovered. He had been confined to his bed and helpless for the past fifteen weeks and death no doubt was a great relief to his sufferings. Mr. Tullis was sixty-six years old last March, had been a member of the Methodist church a long time and lived a good Christian life. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and was buried with the honors of that order at Church Hill yesterday afternoon. A number of Masons from Buena Vista went down to attend the burial. The Marion County Patriot, No. 38 September 21, 1894 Page Two Transcriber note: This article was written by members of a committee of the Few Lodge, No. 329 on Sept. 12, 1894. Committee members were: D.B. Wells, J.A. Sheppard, A.W. Davis, Buena Vista, Ga. The article was lengthy - below are the details: In Memoriam Brother Newell H. Tullis, an honored member of this Lodge, who died the 22nd of August, 1894 after a long continued illness in the sixty-seventh year of his age, having lived in the county over sixty years. That in the death of Brother Tullis, Marion County has lost a noble and patriotic citizen, his community a good neighbor, this Masonic lodge a faithful brother, his wife and kind and affectionate husband, and his children a devoted and indulgent father. That in token of fraternal love for our deceased Brother we wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days. That a blank page of the Journal of the Lodge be inscribed to his memory and that these resolutions be published in the Marion County Patriot and a copy be sent to the bereaved family.
