Dr. Hall was called in and did all in his power to relieve the sufferings of the unfortunate lady, but she was so badly burned that it beyond human efforts to do her any good, and after lingering in great agony until about 2 o’clock Sunday morning death came and relieved her. Mr. Waterhouse was in Macon at the time and he was telegraphed for, but he could not get here until 3 o’clock Monday morning. Mrs. Waterhouse was subject to fits, and it is supposed that she fell in the fire when one of the spells was on her with the result above stated. The servant girl was in the cook room when the accident happened, but she did not come to Mrs. Waterhouse’s assistance in time to save her life, as she made no noise when she caught fire. Her remains were carried to Anderson on a special train early Monday morning to make connection with the early train to Macon where she was carried for burial. Mr. Waterhouse has the sympathy of our entire community in the hour of his great affliction.
