Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 2:00PM with Rev. Daniel Whitt of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Rev. Kevin Brown of Cornerstone Church officiating. Mrs. Ward was born on September 30, 1926 to the late Johnnie Thomas and Lillie Curlee Miller in Buena Vista, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley H. Ward, Sr., two daughters, Marilyn Ward Wells and Cathy Ward Oakes, a brother, Vilas “Bud” Miller, a sister, Dixie Moore, a grandson, Justin Wise, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Kristen Ward. Survivors include her children, Stanley H. “Jack” Ward, Jr. and his wife, Jo, of Buena Vista, GA, Sue Ward Raybon and Sherry Ward Wise, both of Americus, GA; three brothers, Thomas Miller and B.S. “Pop” Miller, both of Buena Vista, GA, and Ronnie Moore of Woodstock, GA; two sisters, Ruth Rush of Buena Vista, GA and Mary Mitchell of Zephyrhills, FL; nine grandchildren, Alisha Ward, Jared Ward, Shana Griffin, Jeremy Wise, Susan Raybon, Kimberly Reid, Jennifer Beck, Kacie Raybon, and Mandi Sue Latham; thirteen great-grandchildren, Joseph Ward, Emma Griffin, Eli Griffin, Henry Wise, Lucy Wise, Wren Wise, Gavin Neil, Drake Clements, Milee Sue Latham, Jacob Beck, Ethan Beck, Grayson Norton, and Bella Norton. In addition to serving as a homemaker, Mrs. Ward worked with her husband on their farm with an unmatched work ethic. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and reading. Her Christian faith, generosity, family values, and buttermilk biscuits are her legacy. Watson-Tante Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
