John Carlos Welch April 24, 1938 - November 25, 2009 SMITHS STATION, AL— John 
Carlos Welch, 71 of Smiths Station, AL passed away Wednesday, November 25, 
2009 at VistaCare Center at Franciscan Woods. Funeral services with full 
military honors will be held 10:00 a.m. EST Monday, November 30, 2009 at 
Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. John Rigby officiating. Interment will 
follow at the Ft Mitchell National Cemetery. City, AL. Mr. Welch was born 
April 24, 1938 in Marion County, GA son of the late Murray and Lucille Dabbs 
Welch. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired 
after 23 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in 
death, by his first wife of 45 years Maggie "Reba" Harbuck Welch; four 
brothers Gene Welch, Larry Welch, Tim Welch and Benny Welch. He is survived by 
his wife Shirley White Welch; a daughter Pamela Jean Gaymon and husband John 
of Round O, SC; two sons, John C. Welch, Jr. and wife Jane of Buena Vista, GA 
and Richard Murray Welch and wife Shelia of Smithville, TN; four sisters, 
Jackie Turner and husband C.T. of Buena Vista, GA, Francis Daniels of Mauk, 
GA, Caroline Stubbs of Mauk, GA and Betty Edgington and husband Dwight of 
Xenia, IL; one brother, Charles Welch of Marion County, GA; two step-sons, 
Harold Antrobus and wife Teresa of Lewisburg, TN and Jason Hess and wife Tina 
of Parson, TN; three step-daughters, Melissa Rayborn and husband Roy, Melanie 
Youngblood and Carmen Powell all of Smiths, AL; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-
grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends
