Martha Lou Wells (Hogg)
August 31, 1927 ~ September 21, 2016 

Mrs. Martha Lou Hogg Wells, 89, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Wednesday, 
September 21, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA. A graveside funeral 
service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Buena Vista 
Cemetery with Rev. Lanier Roberts and Rev. David Chapman officiating.

Mrs. Wells was born August 31, 1927, in Marion County to Thomas Upton and Addie 
Lou Moore Hogg.  A 1944 graduate of Jordan High School in Columbus, she obtained 
her cosmetology license before graduation. She was employed as a beautician for 
62 years. Methodist by faith, she was a member of Tazewell Methodist Church.  A 
World War II veteran’s widow, she was a loving mother and grandmother and 
enjoyed gardening.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
husband, Emmett Morris Wells.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law,  Jane Harris-Elliott (Fred), 
Em Welch (Taylor), and Elaine Welch (Curt) all of Buena Vista, GA; seven 
grandchildren, Paige Mock, Payton Powell, Patrick Powell, Candace Rogers, 
Tiffany Wodzinski, Marti Watson, and Brandi Levy; and 17 great-grandchildren.
