Mrs. Georgia Ruth Whitley, 93, of Mauk, GA, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015, 
at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Moore’s

Chapel Baptist Church with Brother Ken Howard officiating. Burial will follow the 
service at Pine Level Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on

Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 6-8pm.

Mrs. Whitley was born September 26, 1922, in Junction City, GA, to John W. Hill and

Georgia Naomi Gooding Hill.  A member of Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church, she was a 
pastor’s wife and enjoyed cooking and sewing. Mrs. Whitley was a homemaker and a 
manager at Handy Way convenience store.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star 
and the WMU.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband 
Reverend Herschel E. Whitley, Sr.

She is survived by two sons, James (Sonny) and Shirley Whitley of Columbus, GA, and

Herschel E. Whitley, Jr. of Mauk, GA; by two daughters, Janie Ruth and Wayne 
Ledbetter of Mauk, GA, and Pam Smith of Welaka, FL; by a brother, Charles and Jean 
Hill of Leesburg, GA; and by 6 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
