A graveside funeral service was held at the Buena Vista Cemetery on Friday, October 24 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Ewell Pritchett officiating and with full military honors. The family received friends following the service at Buena Vista Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Mr. Youngblood was born March 10, 1927 in Marion County, Georgia to Grady J. and Minnie Allen Youngblood. He was a member of the Buena Vista Church of Christ. He retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years of dedicated service and then worked as a dispatcher for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He was a highly decorated military officer and American patriot who courageously fought for his country during the Korean War and vigorously battled cancer for over seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister Ruby Berkhausen and by a brother Floyd Youngblood. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Minnie Morris Youngblood of Pine Mountain; by three daughters Theresa Wright (Milton) of Columbus, GA, Sharon Brookins (Michael) of Pine Mountain and Judy Alldredge (Dale) of Ozark, AL; brothers, Wilbur Youngblood (Juanita) of Juniper, GA and James Youngblood of Buena Vista; a sister, Elizabeth Zimmerman (Roy) of Canton, GA; by grandchildren, Tracy Lynn Van Meter (Steve), Jeralyn Buchan (Chris), Sheralyn Kay Brogan (Jim), Scott Brookins (Kyna), Jennifer Brookins, Jessica Alldredge and Travis Alldredge; and 13 great grandchildren. Tante Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904.
