Jackson and Miss Minnie Stokes were married at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Stokes, last Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Bascom Sentell performed the ceremony. The married of these young people was solemnized very quietly, only a few of the relatives and friends of the contracting parties were present. It was a surprise to many of our people and but few other than the immediate family knew of it until a day or two beforehand. Ed is one of our cleverest and most popular boys, and his former associates will give him up with reluctance, though with their best wishes for a long and happy life in his married state. He is depot agent and telegraph operator at this place, and is considered one of the best business young men in town. The bride is one of our most popular and handsome young ladies, and Ed should deem himself fortunate in winning the heart and hand of one so fair. The Patriot joins in congratulations with their host of friends in wishing that their barque will ever sail smoothly over the sea of matrimony and no rough breakers encounter it.
