At the Buena Vista House, the home of the bride’s parents, last Sunday 
afternoon at 4 o’clock, by the Rev. A.l. Moncrief, Miss Mattie Lowe was married 
to Mr. J.F. Rushin.  Only the relatives and a few friends witnessed the 
ceremony.  Immediately after the marriage of the happy couple left for the home 
of the groom two miles in the country.

The bride was one of our most popular young ladies, with a sweetness of 
disposition and a lovable character which attracted her to a long coterie of 
sincere admirers, and Mr. Rusin is to be congratulated in winning the heart and 
hand of such a true and noble woman for a wife.

Mr. Rushin is one of our most prominent citizens, clever and generous, has been 
sheriff of the county for a long time and one of her most prosperous farmers.  
He has made many arrests in which the iron shackles of the law have bound his 
prisoners, but his last arrest, one of the happy events of his life, the golden 
bands of love were substituted for the stern exactions of the law.

The Patriot congratulates them and as they pass down the rugged journey of 
life’s fitful scenes may their pathway be strewn with flowers, ladened with 
sweet aroma of love, prosperity and happiness.
