Brantley Items

At the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. Marshal Thaggard, Miss Sophronia 
Thaggard and Mr. Lee Helms were happily married on last Sabbath evening at 3 
o’clock.  The bride is very popular with young and old, having taught several 
years in this community.  Mr. Helms is an industrious and rising young farmer, 
noted for his pious qualities.

Cherokee Floatings

Mr. Lee Helms and Miss Freedonia Thaggard were joined in the holy bonds of 
matrimony last Sunday evening, at the home of the bride, J.A. Griffin 
officiating.  Lee is one of Glenalta’s thorough going farmers and the bride is 
one of Poplar Springs’ highly accomplished young ladies.

Transcriber note: The name of the bride is different in both articles and since 
I'm not a researcher of this family I am uncertain which is correct.  It is 
possible that Freedonia was the bride's nickname or the author didn't know how 
to spell her name correctly.
