Singleton and Miss Genie Harrell were joined in the holy estate of matrimony, the ceremony being performed by Rev. R.B. Taylor, pastor of the Baptist church. It had been whispered for a week or more that they would be married, but it was generally understood that the date set was the following Tuesday, and that was really the day agreed upon. As they were trying to keep the matter a secret, and the day for the event had become known, they decided to surprise their friends by getting married a few days in advance of that date. The Patriot tried to find out early after dinner on the day the marriage took place as to the time, but it was not successful. Before the ink got dry on the papers, however they were married. The Patriot together with many other friends, wishes Captain Singleton and his bride many years of happiness.
