McComb and Miss Mattie Adams were married Monday afternoon at the residence of Rev. Joe Short, that gentleman pronouncing the magic words that bound until death the happy bride and groom. The marriage was in the nature of surprise to many friends here, as nothing was known of the intended marriage until after the parties had left town for Brantley to have the ceremony performed. They returned last night and are now at home to their friends at the groom’s pretty cottage, near the post office. Mr. McComb has been postmaster here for several years and makes a good official, through energy and good judgment he has accumulated a pretty property and is reckoned among the substantial citizens of our town. The bride has been clerk at the post office for some time and is very popular with the patrons of the office. She is a lady of many lovable characteristics and one of the prizes in the matrimonial lottery.
