Leonard G. Steed being of sound mind and disposing memory. but knowing that all men must die, do make and ordain this. my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me Item 1. I direct that after my decease all of my Just debts be paid Item 2nd. I give and bequeath unto my beloved. wife Jane the sum of fifty Dollars. and in lieu of her dower and for and during the term of her widowhood or of her natural life. Three hundred and fifty acres. More or less. of land including the residence now owned and occupied by me. It being a part of my plantation and to be designated by the following described lines and margins Viz lying east of a line beginning on a P. Oak on or near Sutton's line at the mouth of the lane. leading to the old residence of N. Fuller decd. thence running N.29 1/2 W. 10 ch to a stone, thence N 42 W. 22 chs. 80 ? to a stone thence S. 50 W. 4 chs 50/100 through young orchard. to a R. Oak near lane in front of dwelling thence N. 35. W. 19. chs. 40/100 to a Stone west of Stable at the Corner of old orchard. thence N 46. E. 10 chs. back of horse lot to a P. Oak near Spring branch, thence N. 37. W. 46 chs. to Stanfords line In either event of the death or marriage of my said wife I direct that t! he said tract of land so willed shall be sold and the proceeds divided equally between my two children by my said wife Jane viz. Theodocia Ernest and Charles Asher share & share alike. Item 3rd I have given unto my son. Iranious the sum of Twelve hundred dollars. I hereby confirm said gift. Item 4th I have given unto my son. Adoniran J. a negro man name. James and other property amounting in all to twelve hundred dollars I hereby confirm said gift Item 5th I have given unto my daughter Angeline A. who married Wm G. Paschal and who has since died. a Negro girl named dicy Said daughter leaves one Son Colun W. to whom I have (by consent of her husband) made over said Negro in trust. and appointed my Son Adoniran J. trustee the said Negro. valued at Eight hundred dollars I now give and bequeath to said grandson Cohen W. Paschal. to make him equal with the others the sum of four hundred dollars. and direct that it be given in trust to the said trustee for the benefit of said grandson Item 6th I give and bequeath unto my son William P. my negro man Ephraim valued at One thousand dollars and two hundred dollars Unto my Son Leonard P. I give and bequeath the negro man known as Sugar Joe. valued at One thousand dollars and two hundred dollars, unto my daughter Mary E. the negro woman named Amanda. and also a negro child named Sarah (Peggys child) both of said negroes valued. at twelve hundred dollars. at the death of said daughter to her children with their increase also. Unto my daughter Susan P. I give and bequeath the Negro girl name Eliza also a negro boy named Tom. with the increase of said girl both valued at twelve hundred dollars. and at her death to her children. I also give unto said daughter Susan my Piano Forte. Unto my Son James Thomas M. I give and bequeath the negro boy named Hiram, Also. a negro child named Debby. both valued at. twelve hundred dollars Unto my Son Milton N. I give and bequeath the negro boy known as little Moses. valued! at Eight hundred dollars. also four hundred dollars. Should either of the Negroes named and bequeathed in this Item die previous to being turned over to the legatees by my Executor. I direct that the value of said negro shall be made up to the child to whom it was bequeathed out of my unwilled property. Item 7th After the payment of all my Just debts and the legacies herein before specified. I direct that should there be a surplus, it be divided equally share and share alike between my following named children Viz Irenious E. Adonician J. William P. Leonard P. Mary E. Susan P. James Thomas M. and Milton A. Item 8th I appoint my son Irenaous E. Executor of this my last will and testament and it is my desire and I so direct that he receive Two hundred dollars additional Compensation over and above his commissions for his Services in winding up my estate.
