This is the 1820 Federal Census McIntosh County, Georgia

Please be advised that the abbreviations "MS" is male slave, FS is female 
slave, FCM is free Colored male, FCF is free colored female.  Also, please 
make a note that the census taker recorded the names in semi-alphabetical 
order, not as he found them living.  (Curses!)  Therefore, I didn't see a need 
to index them. You will see that names beginning with the same first letter 
are not strictly alphabetized (as in Barber coming before Bain and Bradford 
before Barber.)

This was taken from the microfilmed original census, not from a publication.  
It has been triple proof-read, and compared with some (disputed) names in 
census index and books, with the best probable conclusions drawn, based 
on knowledge of the names that were found here in the county then.   

Perhaps it should be noted that the printed (not hand noted) page numbers 
do not conform to pages - for instance, it begins with page 19 with the 
information for each person spreading over to the adjoining sheet 20, and 
the last pages were inserted with page numbers in the 100's marked through. 
A mess.  Since it is only 9 pages, the way I have recorded it is much easier 
to follow.
