Atkinson County Citizen - April 1, 2010
 John Albert Barnes Jr.,  A celebration of his life will be held April 1, 2010, 4
4 p.m. at South Newport Baptist Church, Townsend, GA. Mr. Barnes gave up his l
long hard fought battle with cancer on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
 John was born on November 20, 1950 in Birmingham, AL, the family moved to 
Gadsen, AL where he spent the next 20 plus years. He was a life-long member of B
Bellevue Baptist Church, Gadsden, AL He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the time h
he spent at White Oak Plantation in Tuskegee, AL.
 His real love was the passion for flying airplanes and his favorite college team
team The Alabama Crimson Tide. John started his career as Tax Appraiser in Mo
Mobile, AL, he then moved to Folkston, GA as Chief Tax Appraiser of Charlton Co
County, for the past 7 years he proudly served McIntosh County as Chief Tax Ap
Appraiser.
 Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by his father, Albert Barnes, Sr., Gadsden, A
AL; mother Sara Catherine Barnes of Mobile, AL; He is survived by his loving w
wife, Karlynn Barnes, daughter Catherine Joy Barnes; stepdaughters Ashlin B
Boatright, Janna Boatright; stepsons John Boatright, Mikell Boatright; grandson J
John Brody Barnes; sister Glenda Castleberry, husband Dale of Collierville, TN. 
 The family would like to thank the nurses at Hospice Golden-Isles, Brunswick, G
GA for their compassion, love and support they gave to the entire family. God B
