Mr. Mulcair and Mr. Campbell left Darien on the 25th , for Doboy in a small sailboat. Mr. Campbell was asleep and it is thought that Mr. Mulcair, while trying to lower the sail lost his balance, fell overboard and was drowned near Doboy. Mr. Mulcair was a native of Canada but had been living in this county about ten years. His wife died here in 1891 and a young baby survives them. Mr. Mulcair had many friends here who will regret to hear of his sudden death. To the aged parents in far-off Canada we extend heartfelt sympathies. Additional Comments: After his wife died soon after childbirth in August of 1891, Mike was unable to care for both of his children and allowed his brother in Canada to come and take the oldest child back to raise "for a while". Sarah Ann Mulcair was six when she boarded a boat with an uncle she had never met before and went to Canada. The baby, Mary Ellen Mulcair was raised by her grandmother, Sarah (Doyle) McGinley, at the Ridge along with Sarah's four surviving children. Sarah's husband had died 8 days after Sarah's daughter Mary Ellen Mulcair died in childbirth. Mike Mulcair, the baby's father, was her son-in-law.
