Darien Timber Gazette; Saturday 6 January 1883; pg. 3 col. 1

Wm. Haley, a well-known colored man of Darien, died here on Saturday afternoon 
after a short illness.  “Bill” Haley was an old and respected citizen of this 
county and his familiar face will be missed.  He was buried from the Baptist 
(colored) Church on Sunday afternoon.
