"...Blind for nearly three years, this beautiful little girl, whose brown eyes 
and auburn curls had been so admired, was for over one third of that period, 
at least, obliged to keep her bed.  Unable to walk, shorn of the lovely hair, 
deprived of sight and suffering fearful paraxyms of pain, at times--still, the 
constant incense of love to God and to her neighbor, rose from the Altar of
