This is a land record from 1841. Georgia, Meriwether County This indenture made this the thirteenth day of February eighteen hundred and forty one between James V. Barnes of the one part and William Franklin Sewell & Elizabeth Missouri Foy of the other part, both of the County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of (five?) hundred and twenty five dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold & by these presents doth grant bargain and sell to the said William Franklin Sewell and Elizabeth Missouri Foy, their heirs and assigns all that parcel of land situate(d) lying and being in the eleventh (11) District of formerly Troup now Meriwether County it being the West part of Lot No. (54) fifty four in said district, the line to commence at the South West corner and run 122 1/2 one hundred and twenty two and one half rods east on the south line to a corner to be made the median. Watson and Green B. Watson thence along said median then to a corner to be made on said lines between Benjamin Hood and the said Green B. Watson thence West to West Line of said lot the same containing (87) eighty seven acres more or less, to have and to hold the said bargained premises or parcel of land, together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereunto belonging, save and except all gold and silver and all other valuable metals and minerals whatsoever contained or in any wise appertaining to the said parcel of land together with the free full and undisturbed use of ___y to and forever of any part of said land and the use of all or any part of the water thereon and the right of working or having the same worked upon or any part thereof forever in fee simple. And the said James V. Barnes for himself, his heirs, etc and the said bargained premises will warrant and defend.
