Martha Butler as executrix (seal) of John Butler decd Robert Woods John Woods J.P. Recorded 25 September 1834 Levi M. Adams Clk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes: Robert Boyd and most of his children moved to Meriwether from Newberry Dist., SC, sometime in the early 1830s. Robert made this land purchase, the first recorded purchase by him in Meriwether County, in January of 1834. The land was originally in Troup County and was won by John Butler of Elbert County, a fortunate drawer in the 1827 lottery. When John died, the land went up for public sale and Robert, being the highest bidder, purchased the land for $250. This land became his homeplace but was later sold (or given) to his son, William. The Boyds lived in the Upper Ninth District, in the extreme northeastern corner of the county, near the Flint River and the Pike/Coweta county lines. Robert was married to Rosannah Stewart in South Carolina about 1788. Rosannah died before 1840, as Robert did not name her in his will. He made his will in Meriwether County 8 Dec. 1840 and it was recorded in Meriwether 5 March 1847. Following his death, most of the children moved to Carroll County.
