Between D.B. Boyd of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Henry G. Orrick of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth the said D.B. Boyd for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and Eighty-seven dollars and fifty cents to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, bargained, [sic] sold an d conveyed unto the said Henry G. Orrick, his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land, situated, lying and being in the ninth District of formerly Troup County now Meriwether County. The west half of No. one hundred and seventy two. To have and to hold the said parcel of land unto him the said Henry G. Orrick his heirs and assigns, together with all and singular the rights and members and appertenances. thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee Simple. And the said D.B.Boyd for himself his heirs, executors and administrators, the said bargained premises unto the said Henry G. Orrick his heirs and assigns, will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons whatever. In witness whereof the said D.B. Boyd, hath hereunto set his hand and seal, the day and year above written. D.B.Boyd. (Seal) Signed, sealed, and delivered in presence of Powel Cook James H. Ravens J.P. Recorded 27th April 1839. Levi M. Adams, Clk. Additional Comments: Henry G. Orrick was married to Grace Tidwell 18 Dec. 1828 in Upson County, GA. Grace was the daughter of William Tidwell and Mary Amelia Jones. D.B. (David) Boyd was the son of Robert Boyd and Rosannah Stewart. David's sister, Frances, was married to Grace Tidwell Orrick's brother, Mark Tidwell. Sometime after 1840, Henry and Grace Tidwell Orrick left Meriwether County and moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama where they raised eight or nine children. At least four of the children had moved to Pike County, Arkansas by 1880.
