Meriwether County, Georgia – Warranty Deed – Book E, Page 301

This Indenture made this the 4th March in the year of our Lord one thousand 
eight hundred and thirty-seven between Ellison Groce of the County aforesaid of 
the one and Jesse McClendon of the County of Troup of the other part witnesseth 
that the said Jesse (smudged) in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred 
dollars to have in hand paid at and before the sealing & delivering of these 
presents the receipt whereof is duly acknowledged hath granted bargained sold 
alienated and conveyed and confirmed and by these presents does grant bargain 
sell alien and convey and confirm unto the said Ellison Groce his heirs and 
assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the ninth 
district of originally Troup now Meriwether County known and distinguished in 
plan of land District by lot No. 62. To have and to hold the said tract or 
parcel of land unto him the said the said (sic) Ellison Groce his heirs and 
assigns together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to 
him and their own proper benefit & behoof forever in fee simple and the said 
Jesse McClendon for himself his heirs Executors and administrators the said 
bargained premises unto the said Ellison Groce his heirs and assigns will 
warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and 
against the claim of all other persons whatever.
