Orrick of the State of Georgia of the County of Meriwether on the one part and Peter Kempson of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry G. Orrick for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained, aleined conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alein convey and confirm unto the said Peter Kempson his heirs and assigns all that lot of land known by no two hundred and thirty three in the ninth district of formerly Troup County now Meriwether County. To have and to hold the said lot of land with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said Peter Kempson being, belonging, or in any way appertaining with the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions, rents, issues and profits thereof to the only proper use benefits and behoof of the said Peter Kempson his heirs executors administrators and assigns in fee simple. And the said Henry G. Orrick his heirs executors and administrators and all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof the said Henry G. Orrick hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & year above written. H.G. Orrick (seal) Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of Alston G. Harris James N. Ravens J.P. Recorded 18 Feb. 1841. Levi M. Adams, Clk. Additional Comments: Henry G. Orrick was married to Grace Tidwell 18 Dec. 1828 in Upson County, GA. Grace was the daughter of William Tidwell and Mary Amelia Jones. They moved to Meriwether County shortly after their marriage and lived near Grace's parents in the upper ninth district of Meriwether not far from Mt. Carmel Church. Sometime after 1840, Henry sold his land in Meriwether and he and Grace moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama where they raised eight or nine children. At least four of the children had moved to Pike County, Arkansas by 1880. Grace appeared in Tallapoosa County censuses through 1860 and Henry through 1870.
