Cutts, Superintendent of Schools at Greenville, Meriwether County, since 1933, has qualified as a candidate opposing Dr. M. D. Collins, Mr. Cutts is a s on of the late Dr. W. L. Cutts, who was a distinguished Baptist minister of Georgia for nearly a half century. Mr. Cutts received his elementary education in the public schools of Canton and Vienna, and graduated from Mercer University in 1920, pursuing his graduate studies at the University of Georgia. After graduation he entered educational work in which field he has been recognized throughout the State for his aggressive leadership. He has taught in Piedmont Institute, Waycross and has served as principal of Ashburn High School and Superintendent of Schools at Blue Ridge before going to Greenville. In announcing his candidacy for State Superintendent, Mr. Cutts pledges himself to a program having the following objectives. Take the Department of Education out of politics, cut out waste and extravagance in the State Department of Education; remove unnecessary employees; stop useless travel at state expense;work for Georgia schools instead of personal glory;fight for permanent financial security for our schools;provide sound professional leadership; establish a progressive system of schools;continue to give free textbooks to all pupils;pay adequate salaries to teachers promptly; insure a state supported seven months terms. Accompanying Mr. Cutts to the Capital in Atlanta when he went to qualify was a delegation of his Meriwether County neighbors, including A. J. Keith of Gay; former President of the Georgia County Commissioners Association; Representative Frank Hatchett, of Meriwether County; Judge Gus Huddleston, of the Greenville Ciry Court; Judge J. Render Terrell, former State Senator; Nathan Culpepper; John P. Atkinson; and Mayor W. E. Irvin, of Greenville; County Engineer Roy Seay; County Clerk J.. A. Gaston, Jr.; and J. H.
