GEORGIA News

Gen. M. D. Ector who recently died in Texas, was formerly a citizen of 
Meriwether county. The Meriwether Vindicator says that he represented that 
county in the Legislature in 1845 and 1846, his colleague being the Hon. 
Allen Rowe of Carroll county. Gen. Ector was Chief Justice of the Court of 
Appeals of Texas and was absent from home attending court at the time of his 
death. He was a distinguished soldier of the Southern Army during the late 
war.
