JORDAN - Born in Neal (sic) Meriwether County, Georgia, November 4, 1866. He was the youngest of eight children in the family of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Jordan. He was married the first time in Georgia at about 21 years of age to Miss Sudie Bailey and soon after moved his family to Pittsburg, Texas. After about 14 years there his wife died. In 1903, he was married to Mrs. Irene Seals of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and to this union three children were born. The oldest child died at six months of age, the other two, Francis and Elizabeth are still living. Francis was born in 1909 and married Mr. Stapleton since the death of her father. Elizabeth was born in 1912, and married Mr. Jack McGinnis some time before the death of her father. Mr. & Mrs. Stapleton live in Greenville, Texas. Mr. & Mrs. McGinnis live in Sulphur Springs. On March 22, 1922, Mr. Jordan married Mrs. Paralee Moss who had three children, Loyd, Leonard, and Fay by her former marriage. Mr. Jordan lived seven years in West Texas, returning to Hopkins County in 1910. For many years he was a successful shoemaker in Sulphur Springs. He leaves a wife, three step-children, and two children. He was laid to rest in the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. (Daily News-Telegram, Dec. 1930)
