P. Keith W. P. Keith, more intimately and affectionately known to his friends, whow (sic) he counted by the scores, as Bill Keith, passed to his reward some weeks since, after a most useful and active life of 78 years. Really, active and useful, are the words that really express it, as he was actively useful to the very last. Bill really seemed to love everybody and had words of help and comfort for all, while not necessarily admiring the individual ways of all his friends, he never failed to give them the very best advice of which he was capable, showing his interest in them, nor did he fail to help them wherever and whenever possible. "As my Father hath sent me even so send I you," are the words of our Master and his. He seemed to fully realize that the religion of the Lord Jesus Christ was not an inactive state of heart and mind, but an active one, finding expression in deeds of kindness and help for the unfortunate. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Emeas and was a humble follower of that faith. He joins his wife on the other shore who preceded him by several years and whom he missed so very consciously, and ever looked forward to the recent reunion with such faith and patience. Bill Keith was a man who really lived, and didn't merely exist and seemed to enjoy it in spite of handicaps, which he had been accustomed to all his life, but lived on in spite of them, overcoming them as fast as he met them and converted them into a successful life. Mr. Keith was born Feb. 5, 1866. He was 78 years old at the time of his death. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Miss Dora Burdette and to this union there were born three children, one boy and two girls. His second marriage was to Miss Della Jeter and to this union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters, which makes him the father of ten children. He also adopted three children of his wife's sisters, who were orphans. These thirteen children he raised to a noble manhood and womanhood, and are among the best citizens of Meriwether county. These children always honored their father and respected him for he was worthy of it. Written by a Friend and Admirer, S. J. M.
