Mrs. A. C. Mathews, Mother of Atlantan, Passes at Griffin

Grifffin, Ga., August 18 -- (Special) Mrs. A. C. Mathews, one of Griffin's most 
prominent women, died at an early hour Thursday morning at he home.  She was 68 
years old and before her marriage to Mr. Mathews on October 8, 1885, was Miss 
Mollie D. Kempson, of Meriwether county.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, H. G. Mathews of Atlanta; A. C. 
Mathews, Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.; two daughters, Miss Sue Mathews and Miss 
Madelyn Mathews, of Griffin; one grandson, H. G. Mathews, of Atlanta, and one 
brother, Judson Kempson, of Meriwether county.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the residence 
with the Rev. Dr. J. E. Sammons, of Rome, formerly of Griffin, officiating.  
Interment will be in Oak HIll cemetery.
