Joseph Moore, of Merriwether co., Ga., died suddenly Aug. 23, in his 
73 year.

He joined the M. E. Church in 1825, served acceptably as a class-leader 
for more than 30 years.  He was modest and unassuming in his religious 
pretentions, found much fault with himself, sometimes fearing that he 
would at last fail of getting to heaven.  Yet never for a moment did he 
seem to doubt his conversion.  His Christian course was made up of a 
continual striving to enter in at the straight gate - a continual warfare 
with the world, the flesh and the devil.  But the mortal strife is ended, 
and we have no doubt of his rest in heaven.
