W. McLaughlin Passes From Earth to Eternity Mr. J. W. McLaughlin passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hay in this city Tuesday night, after an illness of several weeks. His death was not unexpected for his loved ones knew that he could not long survive the effects of the fatal disease which was slowly but surely sapping away his strenghth and life. The deceased had lived three score years and three and in his quiet and unostentatious way had exerted his influence for the best interests of his county and state. Many years ago he united with the Methodist church and endeavored to walk in the footsteps of his Master in faith and meekness. He went through the valley of the shadow of death sustained by the hope of eternal life. He was a good citizen, a loyal friend and a loving parent and scores who loved him will mourn his death. Mr. McLaughlin left four children, Mrs. C. C. Hay and Messrs. J. C., Walter and Arthur McLaughlin; two brothers, Hon. B. F. McLaughlin, of this city, and Mr. G. T. McLaughlin, of Atlanta; and two sisters, Mrs. N. S. Hamby, of Forest, and Mrs. Belle Fielder, of Hogansville, to sorrow over his departure. The sympathy of a large circle of friends are with the bereaved ones in their affliction. The body of the deceased was laid to rest in the family cemetery at the old McLaughlin homestead in the Eleventh district. As the mortal remains of the departed return to the dust from which they sprung, may his soul, redeemed by the blood of Christ, bask in the light of eternal life.
