The Last Will and Testament of Charles Garrett
Meriwether County, Georgia Wills, 1831-1903, pages 158, 159

I Charles Garrett considering the uncertainty of this mortal life & being of 
sound mind & memory blessed be the Almighty God for the same, do make and 
publish this my last will and testament in manner & form following that is to 
say, I desire my beloved wife, Mary Garrett, to keep all my estate both 
personal and real together during her widowhood or live tho [sic] if she 
should marry after my death my will is that all my estate be equally divided 
between all my children and my beloved wife Mary Garrett to have an equal part 
as one of my children..  Furthermore, I desire my son John Garrett shall have 
at the age of nineteen years a horse worth seventy-five dollars a saddle & 
bridle worth $12.00.  I also desire that Mary J. Garrett, my daughter shall 
have at the age of eighteen a horse worth $45 and a saddle and a bridle worth 
$12.00 and I desire that Hannah J. Garrett my daughter shall have at the age 
of eighteen years one horse worth $45.00 & saddle & bridle worth $12.00.  
Whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this Dec. 29th 1848.

The within last will and testament of Charles Garrett having been proven at 
this regular term in open court upon the oats of Josiah Rains and Willie T. 
Norris ordered that the same be admitted to record first Novr. 1852.  D. C.
