State of Georgia Meriwether County 

This indenture made and entered into this the   9th  day of  October  in the 
year of our Lord  One Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Eight  between    John 
D. Sutton  of the State of Georgia and County of Meriwether  duly constituted 
Administrator of the estate of   John R. Jones  late of Meriwether  County, in 
the State of Georgia  party of the first part , and W.S. Hewell  of the State 
of Georgia and County of Meriwether party of the second part, Witnesseth : That 
the said party of the first part , by virtue of an order granted by the 
Honorable the Court of Ordinary of Meriwether  County , on the first Monday in 
September  1897 . (previous notice of application for leave to sell the land 
hereinafter described, belonging to the estate of said deceased, having been 
given by publication as required by law ). Did , on the first Tuesday in 
October  1898 within the legal hours of sale, at the place of public sales      
before the court house door in Greenville in said county and state   

Put up and exposed to sale , at public outcry to the highest bidder ( after 
said sale had been advertised by publication as required by law, and after all 
requirements of  law had been fully complied with )  the lots or parcels of 
land lying and being in  the Raleigh district of said County Viz: one hundred 
and fifty (150) acres more or less the same being made up of fifty (50) acres 
more or less and at the South west corner of lot of land no. two hundred and 
fifty six (256) and of one hundred  (100) acres more or less . The said one 
hundred acres more or less  being  the South half of lot no.  two hundred and 
fifty seven (257) said two parcels of land forming one tract of land and 
bounded North by lands of Robert Fowler East by lands of John D. Sutton  South 
by lands of J.A. Gill , J.D. Sutton and estate of J.M. Brooks ; and West by 
estate lands of Robert Chumm decd.
When the lot or parcel of land thus described was bid off by said party of the 
second part, at a price or sum of Seven hundred ($700)   Dollars he being the 
highest and best bidder . Now the said party of the first in consederation of 
the premises, and for and in consideration of the sum of Seven Hundred ($700)  
in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of theses presents, the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has granted , bargained , sold and 
conveyed , and hereby does grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party 
of the second part  his heirs and assigns, the said described land, with all 
the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise 
appertaining; to him and his own proper use, benefit and behoof forever ia as 
full and ample a manner as the same was possessed or enjoyed by the said John 
R. Jones deceased in his life time 

In Witness whereof, the said party of the first part has hereunto set his hand 
and seal , the day and year first above written
