Georgia} Meriwether County} Personally appeared before me Charles C. Owen Exr & c who having duly sworn deposes & says that the above and foregoing Return is true as it stands stated to the best of his knowledge & belief. C.C. Owen Sworn to & subscribed before me on this June 4 1877 A.J. Hinton O.M.C. Additional Comments: *Members of this family consistently spelled their name with no "s" on the end. This particular misspelling was the clerk's error. There are others scattered throughout these estate documents. Coleman P. Owen was the son of Brice Marshall and Sarah Law (or Lane) Owen who moved, with his parents, from Wilkes and Clarke counties in Georgia to Meriwether County in the 1830s. They lived in the north central part of the county near Rocky Mount. Coleman married Charlotte Allen in Walton County, GA, in 1830. They had four children, all named in the will.
