This is a matter momentous above all considerations of amusement or mere news interest. It is history, that is do justice to the Southern people. We are charged with Andersonville horrors, in terms that impudently claim benevolence for the North in her prison treatment of Southerners. We have had no showing. Our time is at hand. Our people must be vindicated. Our papers must do it with a holy unresting zeal. We have made arrangements for a series of plain, short narratives of facts, by one who writes what he saw. We ask our Southern contemporaries to co-operate with us in this matter. Amid the pressure of the growing present, let us not forget the debt we owe our past history, to place the Southern record on a clear basis of truth.
