him: "Absent without leave since 15th inst., at
which time sick leave expired."

Appomattox, Virginia, April 9, 1865.

leave, having applied for retirement, March 31,
1865.

Toy, C. H. – Chaplain - December 27, 1862. Retired
August 8, 1864.

The 53d Ga. Volunteers

Harralson, Ga., April 20th To the members of
Companies H, D, F, and G of the 53rd Georgia
Volunteers:

I would like to open a correspondence with you and
the other companies with a view of a reunion on
sometime this year. Please address me. I learn that
Col. J.P. Sims is dead and that Capt. R.H. Woods, of
Senoia, is the ranking officer alive of the old
53rd.
